How to prevent Joomla Editor from removing HTML code

Recently there are a lot of questions: Why Joomla removed HTML code when saving an article built by JSN PageBuilder 4. I spent my time investigating the issue and found that the issue comes from Text Filter Settings in Global Configurations.

In this tutorial we will show you how to configure Text Filter settings in the global configuration window. You easily see that Text Filters give you more control over stripping HTML code or not. However, in some cases, this setting causes some issues on 3rd extensions, particularly here on JSN PageBuilder 4. Luckily, you can disable the filtering by yourself.

What is the Text Filters?

The Text Filters gives more control over the HTML your content providers submit. You can be as strict or as liberal as you require to suit your site's needs. The filtering is opt-in and the default settings provide good protection against markup commonly associated with website attacks.

How to stop text Joomla Editor from cleaning HTML code

  1. Log into your Website's Administrator and navigate to System → Global Configuration → Text Filters tab.
  2. You notice 4 columns: Filter Group, Filter Type, Filter Tags, Filter Attributes. I will not go into details of each column in this tutorial.
  3. Set the Filter Type to No Filtering for the user group that you are in - Administrator, Super Users, or both (this is site-dependent). Caution: Do not use the No Filtering setting for user groups that are not fully trusted – that would introduce a sizable security risk.
  4. Click on the "Save" button when you are done.
